"Our everyday lives are filled with complex decisions. We long for simplicity and ordinariness"

About Me

My spark to start Harmonizing Spaces began during my 20 years working as a dental hygienist. During downtime between patients I would declutter and reorganize the offices for fun and the positive feedback soon had me in peoples’ homes, attics and garages helping transform areas that felt “stuck”. It felt so good to use my skills to help people way beyond their oral health. I could impact lives in a much more personal and meaningful way. As I was referred from one person to the next, I learned that I was doing so much more than optimizing spaces and workflow; I was completely changing people’s environments and creating atmospheres that were more peaceful, productive and harmoniously aligned with their values.

So I founded Harmonizing Spaces, a company that I’ve created with a lot of heart and passion for helping people achieve their goals in creating a space that they love. During my time as a professional organizer, I’ve seen how we all have a uniquely different relationship with our stuff and how we own things should make sense both practically and emotionally. When I’m not cleaning teeth, harmonizing spaces, or selling on Marketplace, I’m with my hubby and 2 littles, soaking up the joys, and riding the waves of parenting.

Client Testimonials

Larisa worked for and with me during fall 2025 when I moved from a house in Davis I had lived in for 60 years.  The move turned out to be a little more emotional than I had expected, but having Larisa’s expertise on sorting and packing essentially put her in charge which made a huge difference to my outlook and efficiency.  She (and her helpful husband Phillip) did all the heavy lifting, hauled books to library sales, cleaned out a storage room to its bare bones, and put together and filled dozens of boxes to go on the moving van.  Items I couldn’t take with me went to Larisa’s garage for sale on line.  The resulting sales from that paid her salary and made a surprisingly good profit for me.

This all took place during her seventh and eighth months of pregnancy with her second child (a beautiful, healthy girl).

Larisa is competent, knowledgeable, smart, witty, a great conversationalist, and a true friend indeed.  Having her and her business in town should make a fabulous addition to the Davis community.

Benefits of Living a Decluttered Life

It’s not always obvious how much our spaces affect us; however, there is clear scientific evidence that clutter and messiness can impact our mental well-being. Research from Princeton University psychology professor Sabine Kastner, whose work explores how visual attention functions in complex environments, shows that visual clutter competes for our brain’s attention and forces it to work harder to filter distractions. The more clutter we have to process, the more mental energy it takes to focus, and over time that can lead to cognitive fatigue, less clarity, and feeling more overwhelmed.

Research from UCLA also found clear indicators that our relationship with our homes directly affects our mental state. Researchers found that couples who experienced their homes as more stressful had increased depressed mood throughout the day, and higher levels of cortisol on average compared to couples who described their homes as restorative. The connection between our environment and our well-being is real; when our spaces feel chaotic, cluttered, or out of control, it can leave us feeling more stressed and unsettled in our daily lives. And when our homes feel calm, functional, and supportive, it can help us feel more grounded, more clear-headed, and more at peace.
